About the Society

The Cambs & Hunts Past Lady Captains’ Golf Society was started in 1973.  The leading lights in the establishment of the Society were Brenda Wood and Muriel Stanley, both of Gog Magog GC, along with a small number of other enlightened Lady Captains. Since then the Society has gone from strength to strength. We celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2013 with a special event hosted by Menzies Cambridge Hotel and Golf Club. Over 130 Past Lady Captains, including some of our very early members, took part in this event.  We had the great pleasure of  being entertained by Mickey Walker, OBE  who was our after dinner speaker.

Since the Society started, over 550 Past Lady Captains have joined as lifetime members and we currently have approximately 350 members who still play golf.

Our fixture list each year includes 3 main events:

  • mixed Am-Am with the Society of Cambridge Area Golf Captains
  • spring Am-Am
  • autumn meeting – better ball stableford competition, followed by the AGM

We also have five friendly matches against Past Lady Captains’ Golf Societies from Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire and Suffolk.

All members of the society are welcome to take part in any of these events.  We would love to see you at any of these events.
